Toys and personal belongings: I encourage your child to bring a favorite item from home to help in his or her separation from you. However, I will not be responsible if an item becomes accidentally broken or lost. I will do my best to prevent this from happening.
Field Trips: I will notify you when we go on a field trip away from my immediate neighborhood. I will ask you to bring your child's car safety seat on the days of such trips since safety seats are required by the law in this state. I may ask you to contribute money that might be needed for a trip or special activity. Walking trips in my neighborhood: Sometimes we will be taking walks around my immediate area. These walks are covered by the blanket permission you will sign with your enrollment papers.
Photographs: Sometimes I may wish to photograph or videotape the children for my records or for your viewing. Permission to do so will be covered with your enrollment papers.
Television: I am aware that there are some excellent children's television programs. I will invite children to watch only those programs that fall into this carefully selected category. However, television time will be kept to a minimum. The interaction children have with one another is more important.
School-age children: Special activities are planned for school-age children, including a time and a place for them to do their homework.
Birthdays: When it is your child's birthday, I will have special activities planned in his or her honor for a portion of the day. You may bring a birthday treat, such as a birthday cake (ie. banana bread or carrot cake only, please) oatmeal cookies, fruit cups, or some other nutritious treat. I will provide everything else needed for ourcelebration
Disaster preparedness: I have complete plans for responding to a disaster, such as fire, flood, tornado, earthquake, bomb threat, or other such happening. The children have drills in what to do. Plans are available for all persons who help in my family day care business, even if they help only occasionally.
Court Orders: If there is a court order keeping one parent or guardian away from the child, I must have a written note from the custodial parent or guardian in my file to that effect. Otherwise, I cannot prevent the non-custodial person from picking up the child.
Emergency information: The emergency card you fill out with your enrollment papers must be kept up-to-date so that I can contact you at any time. Please keep me informed of new telephone numbers, addresses, or jobs.
Medications: Your child will not be given any form of medication, including aspirin and cough syrup, without direct orders, in writing, from your doctor. All medications must be in their original containers, with current dates, dosage, and child's name.
Sick Children: I do not accept children who are possibly contagious. Signs of a contagious illness may include vomiting, fever, diarrhea, bad colds, flu, neck swelling, as well as symptoms of common childhood diseases. If your child is sick enough that you find yourself wondering if I will accept him or her, it is probably best to keep the child home. If all parents cooperate with this rule, you will be protecting one another's children.
Note: Often, when children start in a group program, they seem to have more illnesses than before. They are in the process of developing immunity to many common illnesses. We have observed that children who participate in child care programs seem to have fewer instances of illness when they are enrolled in public school than other children who were not enrolled in a child care program.
Toilet training: I will work with you to develop a plan when your child is ready for toilet training. In the meantime, I expect you to provide disposable diapers or subscribe to a diaper service. I also expect you to bring diaper wipes and any other items you wish me to use for your baby.
Injury or illness: I will determine the action to be taken in cases of illness or injury in my home. Permission for me to do so will be covered with your enrollment papers.
Calls to pick up a sick or injured child: You will be telephoned to pick up your child, if needed, if he or she becomes sick at my home, or if he or she is injured and needs immediate medical attention. In case of serious injury, 911 will be called first, then you will be called.
Dental & Doctor appointments: l will not take your child to appointments with the dentist or pediatrician when no emergency exists, unless prior arrangements are made.
Transportation: If arrangements are made prior to registration, I will transport to Head Start or other daycare arrangements
Confidentiality: All information that may come my way concerning an individual person and their families is kept confidential. However, I am required by the State of Wyoming to report any evidence or knowledge of suspected child abuse, or child neglect, to the Wyoming Department of Family Services.
